Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Rehabilitation Proceedings: An International Guide

The International Lawyers Network’s (ILN) Corporate Specialty Group has published the 2025 edition of its insolvency publication “Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Rehabilitation Proceedings: An International Guide”, a collaborative electronic guide which provides expert insights from member firms around the world, offering a practical, comparative overview of insolvency laws, restructuring processes, creditor rights, recent trends, and opportunities across key jurisdictions.

In particular, starting from this edition, this Guide has a Hong Kong chapter which is contributed by our firm, co-authored by our Partners Mr Sidney Ho, Mr Mathew Liu and Associate Ms Winnie Hui.

Hong Kong, being an international financial centre and an international dispute resolution centre, has established a statutory and common law framework on insolvency practice. Practitioners are accustomed with advising on procedure, merits and risks of various options to assist local and international clients in making well-informed decisions in the context of financial crisis. As case authorities on mutual assistance and recognition continue to evolve, it is expected that the Hong Kong Court will continue its open-door policy by committing to cross-border insolvency cooperation in both individual and corporate contexts.
