Introduction

After obtaining the degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Law, Manson joined our firm as a trainee specialising in civil litigation, commercial dispute, SFC-related matters. Besides dispute resolution, Manson also assists in the intellectual property matters including copyright, trademark and patent. Manson is known for being practical, analytical and meticulous. 

Selected dispute resolution works

  • Assisted a listed company in obtaining injunction and pursuing civil claims against its former directors, and provided supports for its Bermudan proceedings
  • Assisted a former director of a listed company to defend allegations of fraud and assets misappropriation in civil proceedings commenced by the Securities and Futures Commission
  • Provided support in a civil dispute between two financial institutions regarding an investment agreement and related arrangements
  • Assisted in shareholder disputes between former business partners arising from splitting of their joint businesses
  • Assisted in the setting aside of an order for possessory title obtained by fraud

  • Assisted a listed company in issuance of new shares, reconstitution of Board members, drafting announcements and compliance with the Listing Rules
  • Assisted in the listing of biotech company under Chapter 18A of the Listing Rule

  • Assisted in alleged copyright infringement case, including the attendance to interview by the Hong Kong Customs
  • Assisted in trademark infringement matters, including issuing cease and desist letter and filing opposition with the Trade Marks Registry

Biotechnology and biomedical engineering

As a holder of undergraduate and master degree in biomedical engineering, Manson has gained valuable experience and skills in this emerging field.

In Manson’s early career, he has researched into the development of state-of-the-art rehabilitation device, biosensor, synthetic biology and portal point-of-care device to meet the future healthcare need. 

Manson worked in a biotech company in the GBA, and gained insight into how the law plays a significant role in the capital-raising, the development and clinical trial of medical devices, and the data security. This inspired Manson to peruse a legal career with a keen interest in biomedical engineering. Manson understands the needs of biotech companies and is able to communicate efficiently with the experts and practitioners in the bioengineering field.
