
Our Peter Sit and Sylvia Siu were among the 60 odd China Appointed Attesting Officers invited to attend the 30th Anniversary Celebration organized by the Ministry of Justice PRC in Beijing on 24 May 2011. They were given their renewal certificates at the People’s Hall and attended a group discussion hosted by the Minister of Justice Madam Wu Aiying and the State Councilor Madam Liu Yandong.
Our senior partner Mr. Peter Sit attended the Hong Kong Legal Services Forum held in Shanghai on 6 July 2010. The Forum was jointly organized by the Hong Kong Bar Association, the Law Society of Hong Kong, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, Asia Office of the International Court of Arbitration, International Chamber of Commerce and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Mr. Sit delivered a presentation on “The Legal Aspects of International Investment and M&A”. Other issues such as international trade, corporate finance and management, and dispute resolution were also featured at the Forum.
Our senior partner Mr. C.K. Kwong represented the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) at the Conference of the International Trademark Association (INTA) held in Boston. Mr. Kwong met with the current President and President Elect of INTA during the Conference. He has also represented APAA at the 9th NGO Coordination Meeting hosted by the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
On 12th May 2010, our partner Ms. Margaret Choi was invited by The Hong Kong Trade and Development Council as one of the guest speakers at “The Seminar on Listing and Financing in Hong Kong for Shandong Enterprises”. At the Seminar, Ms Choi delivered a speech on “How Legal Services in Hong Kong helps Shandong Enterprises in meeting its Financing Needs”. The Seminar was organized by the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province, Finance Affairs Office of Shandong Province and the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council, and co-organized by The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited and Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association. The Seminar took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with over 300 delegates from Shandong and Hong Kong Enterprises.
Our senior partner Mr. C.K. Kwong travelled to Taipei as a member of the delegation of the Hong Kong Society of Notaries to foster ties of professional relationship and discuss mutual recognition of notarial documents between Taiwan and Hong Kong. Visits were also made to the Judicial Yuan(Civil Affairs Department), Straits Exchange Foundation, Mainland Affairs Council of the Executive Yuan, Taipei District Court, the Taipei Notaries Association and the Arbitration Association of Taiwan when ideas were exchanged.
Our senior partner Mr. C.K. Kwong attended an arbitration hearing held in London on behalf of our clients. The hearing lasted for 3 days from 27 to 29, April, 2010.
In his capacity as Senior Vice President of the Asian Patent Attorney Association (APAA), our senior partner Mr. C.K. Kwong attended the Executive Committee Meeting of APAA in Jeju Island, Korea from 19 to 22 March, 2010, to discuss the administration and management of the association. Mr. Kwong also visited the Korean Notaries Association as councillor and goodwill ambassador for the Hong Kong Society of Notaries.
